Our History

Serving Siouxland Boys & Girls for Over 55 Years!

1968: The Club gained its charter from the Boy’s Clubs of America.The Club rented the Armory Building from the 133rd National Guard Infantry Division while they were serving in the Vietnam War. September 17, 1968 was the ribbon cutting ceremony and first day in its new facilities. Any boy between the ages of 8 – 18 years old could join and membership was just $1.00 per year.  Gail Dupree was the first member.  Within 30 days, membership had soared to 267 boys.

1970: The Armory was purchased from the State of Iowa and named in honor of Jesse E. Marshall, a local attorney.
Our gratitude and thanks to the founding board members of the Boys Club of Sioux City: Paul Berger, Ben Lindbergh, Edward Samore, Dr. Don Blume, Bill Linzmeier, Phil Sherman, Robert Davin, Robert M. Shockey, James Deignan, H.B. “Pat” McGill, Richard Sturgeon, Tom Gerkin,  Rev. James McLamb, Stan Swanson, Donald Mullin, E.C. Thompson.  Karl Kletschke, Ray Murphy, W.A. Klinger and Wilson Persinger

1971: The newly remodeled home of the Jesse E. Marshall Boys Club of Sioux City was serving 1,226 members.

1997: The second major renovation transformed the Club into a facility designed specifically for boys.  It won the AIA first place award for Educational Facility Design of the Year 1998.

2008: The Boys Club Outdoor Campus is closer to reality.  The vacant lot next to the Club was purchased.

2012: The Boys Club Outdoor Campus is renamed the ‘Playscape’. Through generous donations of time and funds from board members, Rotary, MHRD and community organizations, our Playscape now looks great and has some fun play features. The Boys Club hired their fifth director in their 75 years of history.

2013: An anonymous donation was given to help improve the home theater and gaming rooms. The first little league team was formed!

2016: Boys Club of Sioux City adds programming for girls and officially becomes Boys & Girls Clubs of Siouxland. The Club’s kitchen and eating area are given a much-need remodel.

2018: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Siouxland renovates the gym and Learning Center with a grant from Lowe's. The Club is also awarded $86,000 by MHRD to re-roof the building and make other much needed repairs.

2022: The Club Teen Center officially opens at 813 Pearl Street, next to our main building. The Teen Center serves kids 12-18 and features a learning center, fitness center, recording studio, art center, theater, conference room, game room, and video games.

Occasionally, we may also use the information we collect to notify you about important changes to our website, new services and special offers we think you will find valuable. The lists used to send you product and service offers are developed and managed under our traditional standards designed to safeguard the security and privacy of all personal information provided by our users. You may at any time to notify us of your desire not to receive these offers.
  5. What Are Cookies? Cookies are a feature of web browser software that allows web servers to recognize the computer used to access a website. This information assists us to design and arrange our web pages in the most user-friendly manner and to continually improve our website to better meet the needs of our users and prospective users. Web server logs allow us to count how many people visit our website and evaluate our website's visitor capacity. Information Security -- We utilize encryption/security software to safeguard the confidentiality of personal information we collect from unauthorized access or disclosure and accidental loss, alteration or destruction. Evaluation of Information Protection Practices -- Periodically, our operations and business practices are reviewed for compliance with organization policies and procedures governing the security, confidentiality and quality of our information. Employee Access, Training and Expectations -- Our organization values, ethical standards, policies and practices are committed to the protection of user information. In general, our business practices limit employee access to confidential information, and limit the use and disclosure of such information to authorized persons, processes and transactions.
  10. How Can You Access and Correct Your Information? You may request access to all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain in our database by emailing us using the contact form provided to you within the site structure of our website.
  11. Do We Disclose Information to Outside Parties? We may provide aggregate information about our customers, sales, website traffic patterns and related website information to our affiliates or reputable third parties, but this information will not include personally identifying data, except as otherwise provided in this privacy policy.
  12. What About Legally Compelled Disclosure of Information? We may disclose information when legally compelled to do so, in other words, when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires it or for the protection of our legal rights.

Donation Refund Policy

We are grateful for your donation and support of our organization. If you have made an error in making your donation or change your mind about contributing to our organization please contact us. Refunds are returned using the original method of payment. If you made your donation by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card.
